How long does it take to get a library card?

Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply.

Are electronic books available?

Yes, please visit the website.

What hours is City Hall open?

City Hall is open from 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday.

May I burn leaves inside the city limits?

Yes, you may burn leaves as long as their is not a burning ban in effect.

It is NOT permitted to burn trash at any time within City Limits.

Is it legal to drive a golf cart in Agency?

Yes, the City of Agency does have an ordinance in effect that makes a provision for Golf Carts as long as they are registered with the City of Agency Annually.  Please refer to the attached Ordinance and Sample Registration Form that is available at City Hall.

I am interested in applying for a job with the City of Agency, what do I do?

You will need to fill out an application if available.  Please ensure you meet the qualifications for the position you wish to be considered for.  If you would like to include a resume, simply attach it to the completed application. You may mail or drop off the application at City Hall.  Interviews will be scheduled accordingly.

Does the City of Agency hire part time employees?

Yes, we do hire part time employees.  Availability of these positions will be posted here when available.

What is the process for getting a Building Permit or Rental Program permits?

We have the necessary forms for the Building Permits and Residential Rental Inspection Program at City Hall.

What day is Garbage Collection Day?

Garbage Collection Day for Agency is Tuesday.  It is advised to put your toter and bin out the night before for collection.  Waste Management runs their route early and is not required to come back and pick up items set out AFTER they have been by your residence.

Do Holidays effect the day of garbage pickup?

If the Holiday falls before Wednesday, your garbage & recycling will be picked up 1 day later.  

What if I have more items then will fit in my toter?

We have tags available at City Hall for $1 for any additional bags of garbage you have beside your toter.  We also have lawn bags available for $1 to accomadate your yard debris.

How could I have used this much water?

You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.

When is my utility bill due?

Water Bills are due on the 1st of each month.  You have until the 15th to pay that amount without penalty.  After the 15th a penalty will be applied.  If payment has not been received by the 20th of each month the water service will be shut off until the past due amount plus a $25 reconnect fee is paid.

Where do I go to vote?

All City elections are conducted by Wapello County.  Elections are held at the Agency Community Center located at 102 W Main-Agency IA
